SAMSUNG REFRIGERATOR BODY - ANOTHER EPIC FAIL

After an epic fail in the quality of the steel emerging pipe comes another.  Now, the quality of the body seemed to have revealed itself after 2 years of normal use:

Nowhere in the manual says that one should first "dry your hands" before handling, nor "do not touch with wet hands"?

Tsk... what a waste of money!

Corrosion caused by early rusting
owing to poor quality coating.

GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY!

A Lame Product At Its Best:

We purchased from SM Santa Rosa City Appliance Center 1 unit of SAMSUNG 2-DOOR REF INVERTER 234L MODEL RT22FARBDSA last December 15, 2013.

How I recommended this appliance to my relatives and friends was unimaginable. This I did because I believed this appliance was truly great:

1. Maintenance Free - No frost.
2. Lower cost of monthly electric bill because it is a Digital Inverter Technology.

Much to our surprise however, it was only last Friday night of July 10, 2015 (almost a year and 7 months after purchase), that we noticed the defrosting of the refrigerator was rather unusual. The ice melted, the refrigerated items defrosted. The only luck we had was this happened on a Friday, as we usually do our marketing on Saturdays, making the freezer full packed for a week's consumption. And yes, I boiled (with salt and vinegar) the remaining meats to avoid spoiling them, and later cooked them for the following 2 days' food. (The ref was still giving a low cooling effect I thought was enough not to spoil the other food contents, including the already boiled meats.)

It was only then in the night of July 11, 2015 (Saturday) that we realized the ref was really down. And so, it was on July 12, 2015 (Sunday) when I sent a message to the Samsung Tech (for Washing Machines and AVs. Yeah... we now have a 6-year-old fully automatic Samsung Washing Machine that was serviced some years ago.) to report our ref's breakdown. Though a Sunday, the Kid replied and told me he'd forward my message to their Office for proper action. (Isn't this guy great?) The following day, July 13, 2015 (Monday), I tried calling (I researched the contact number in the net and through our PLDT Landline) the Samsung Authorized Service Center - JAZZY TECHNICAL SERVICES - JTS in Balibago, Santa Rosa. Hala!!! ... nag-uumpisa palang akong mag salita sa telepono, as I was saying sa sumagot, "ako po ung nagtext sa technician nyo tungkol dun sa aming 2-door ref..." ay binagsakan ako ng telepono!!! You know what I'm saying?... "BINAGSAKAN" PO AKO NG TELEPONO NG KAUSAP KO SA JAZZY TECHNICAL SERVICES !!! Ahahahahahahaha... anyways, bilang pag-intindi, mukhang nataranta ang pobre... haizt. I really don't know why. Give us some manners please...

In short, dun nalang po ako ulit nagtext sa butihing Technician ng Washing Machine to follow-up. A few hours thereafter, ay salamat, may nagtext from the JTS na scheduled na daw po ang pag-punta sa aming bahay ng kanilang Technician. Thank you Lord!

The Following Day, July 14, 2015 - TUESDAY

It was already at around 2:00 P.M. when the JTS Technician sent me a message saying "Gud pm po, technician po eto ng samsung, on the way napo, thanks"

Sa madaling salita, here is the reported findings on what happened in our ref:

1. Weak cooling
2. Defective immerging pipe
3. Check D.O.P.

Check-up Fee = P300.00 ???

Reimbursable naman daw if the warranty is still good. Tsk, I had the whole day looking for the receipt. It was only when my labs came home from work na nakita si resibo. Siya pala nagtago... haizt. Ahahahahaha...

ETO NA ANG NAKAKAINIS!!! (This is frustrating)

Ask ko si Technician:  Errol, bakit steel yung immerging pipe na inilagay eh naka-babad un sa tubig? (Why was the emerging pipe made of steel?)

(That's the design sir...)

HALA... EH DI FAIL ANG DESIGN HINDI BA? KINALAWANG ANG MAGALING NA EMERGING PIPE KAYA NAGKAMERON NG BUTAS NA NAGING DAHILAN NG PAGSINGAW NG FREON!!! KASALANAN KO BA 'TO!!! (So the design is truly a "FAILURE" as the steel emerging pipe got fully rusted thereby causing the freon gas to escape.)

ETO NA ANG LALONG NAKAKAINIS!!! (This is most frustrating)

Jazz.. ehe... just this morning, nagtext ako sa JTS, sabi ko ang purchase date ay December 15, 2013 lang. Hindi po nag-reply... Resend ko ulit si message... nagreply... kaya lang ang reply, "Name po pls." Haha... hindi niya save ung number ko after several ins and outs of messages from previous days. Weh...

Eto na... after messaging na ipa canvass daw niya ang hindi ko matiyak kung ano, eto pala un:

With etc., etc., total quoted cost for repair is:

P8,320.00 !!!

??? !!! Just after 1 year and 7 months from date of purchase, nasira si Samsung Ref dahil sa walang ka-kwenta-kwentang design, ganito ang halaga ng repair na kailangan kong gastusin sa SAMSUNG REFRIGERATOR MODEL RT22FARBDSA na ito??? This is almost 45 percent of the purchase price!!! Granting without accepting na under warranty pa pala kaya wala akong ginastos sa repair, paano na after 1 year and 7 months thereafter? Gagasta ako (with an increase in cost) ng P10,000.00 +++ dahil wala ng warranty??? THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!

Recommendation:
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
OR ANY SIMILAR PRODUCT FROM SAMSUNG.

APPEAL: DTI PLEASE HELP.

APPEAL TO SAMSUNG WORLDWIDE:

GIVE ME A REFUND FOR THE COST OF THIS REFRIGERATOR AT CURRENT PRICE FOR ME TO PURCHASE A SIMILAR MODEL WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND.  Isn't this fair enough?

Refrigerator repaired: July 17, 2015

Owing to the warranty still in effect, the repair was made at no cost to us, service fee of P300.00 refunded. Thank you JTS.

This is what happened why this ref broke down: The steel emerging pipe was of course emerged in the water, as its name implies. And because it is made of steel, what would happen?

Grade 1 Pupil: KAKALAWANGIN PO! (It will rust!)

KOREK!

And because it is rusted, what will happen?

Grade 1 Pupil: SISINGAW PO ANG GAS! (The gas will leak!)

KOREK!

EH DI PALPAK NGA!
(IT'S TRULY A FAILURE!)

(This is the steel emerging pipe fully rusted after 1 year and 7 months of normal use.)

Got an e-mail from Samsung Dated August 26, 2015

Got an e-mail from Samsung Customer Support Center dated August 26, 2015. This is 1 week (7 days) ago as of this post. Sorry, I don't usually open my e-mail very often.

The last line from the first paragraph says: "We'll have your complaints evaluated by the Head Office for further evaluation." I just do not have any idea what they meant with the word "further". I hope it's going to be sooner, before my ref breaks down again...

My Message to DTI Facebook Page, Dated Sept 3, 2015:

Good afternoon po Gentlemen. This is Armando Mendoza from Santa Rosa Laguna.

This is about the Samsung Ref Inverter we purchased which turned out to be inferior in quality. I have demanded from Samsung a full refund as I believe their product as mentioned, do not pass the quality expected for refrigerators to last for at least 10 years or more. My Kelvinator 2-door ref before this Samsung Ref, stayed with us for 11 years.

I would like to seek for your kind assistance concerning this matter. Likewise, I believe farther, that this subject product be pulled-out from the market shelves to prevent similar problems future consumers will face. To recall those units sold would be most appropriate.

Kindly see my posts:

Looking forward to your assistance soon.  More power and God bless.

Respectfully,

Armando Mendoza
